2 Killed In Early Morning Shooting Near School In Westchester

Two people died following an early-morning shooting in Westchester, officials said.

The shooting happened in the area of 137 South Fifth Ave. in Mount Vernon, down the street from the Denzel Washington School of the Arts.

The incident happened on Tuesday, March 19 at around 12:15 a.m., when shots were fired in the area of 137 South Fifth Ave. near the Denzel Washington School of the Arts in Mount Vernon, according to city officials. 

Arriving police soon found two victims suffering from gunshot wounds. One of these victims was pronounced dead at the scene. 

The other victim was taken to Montefiore Mount Vernon Hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries, officials said.

The names of the victims have not yet been released pending notification of their families.
